The vegan vs vegetarian definition, many people don’t know the difference between the vegan and vegetarian diet, this is understandable as there are many different types of vegetarian diets which can be confusing enough as can be seen in Wikipedia’s definition of a vegetarian “Vegetarianism encompasses the practice of following plant-based diets (fruits, vegetables, etc.), with or without the inclusion of dairy products or eggs, and with the exclusion of meat (red meat, poultry, and seafood). Abstention from by-products of animal slaughter, such as animal-derived rennet and gelatin, may also be practiced.”

A vegetarian or vegan diet can be a chosen way of life for different reasons: besides ethical reasons, a few of the reasons for a vegan or vegetarian diet, including religious beliefs, health reasons like weight loss, cultural movements, political view points, environmental awareness, economic or aesthetic.

The vegan vs vegetarian definition of the dietary diversity are: All groups do not eat red or white meats; a vegan diet excludes all animal products like diary milk, butter, cream, eggs, gelatin and even honey; a lacto-vegetarian diet will include dairy products but no eggs; an ovo-vegetarian diet will include eggs but not dairy and an ovo-lacto vegetarian diet will include eggs and dairy products.

The main difference between the vegan and vegetarian is veganism is a way of life and besides not eating animal products, vegans do not even wear, or use any animal products at all like leather, fur and wool. Vegans are against the raising of animals for slaughter or food such as dairy products and are supporters of animal rights.
